MG Midget and Sprite Technical - 1500 single brake line routing

Has anbody got any photos of the correct routing for the brake lines on a single line system on a 1500. Replacing mine and the ones fitted by thr PO or not correct.

My 1500 is single line. At the moment its in storage away from my home, but once lock down ends I'll be going to give a once over.

Are there any particular areas you need to see ? (I may already have some photos).

How about this pic as a starter? Quite why the forum has decided to turn the picture upside down is puzzling!

Out of the master is a T, one line goes to the drivers side outside edge of the pedal box, around the front of it and down to the front offside wheel along the inner wing.

The other line goes out of the master, across the bulkhead, and down past the coil, to a T piece on the inner wing. One line goes out along the nearside inner wing to the nearside wheel. The other line drops down under the floor and along the edge of the reinforcing channel under the floor to the back of the car. A flexible rubber pipe connects to the hard lines on the rear axle.

thanks the existing lines go to a tee on the righthand side then across the front on the cross member under the engine. Chris is yours a australian model LOL Chris have you got any pictures of the tee and the run in the tunnel.

Can I just check this statement of yours:

You mean under the outside edge of the floor stiffener channel? Not between the flanges of the channel?

The reason for asking is that on my Frogeye, when I was bolting down the driver's seat runners at the weekend I noticed that the nut for the front tunnel-side fixing was very close to my brake pipe, which runs IN the channel. Near enough for me to be a bit concerned about the pipe chafing on the edge of the nut. Perhaps the pipe shouldn't be in the channel at all, but alongside it?

(Mark, sorry for hijack)

Addendum: On thinking, that pie is my fuel pipe,not brake, as I ran that inside the tranny tunnel. But the concern over chafing remains the same!

The 1275 front to rear pipe ran inside the tunnel. I’m not sure about the 1500.

Chris, are you using one of those i-can't-phones or other mobile device (sp).

I've no wish in any way impute your character, just asking, do you know for sure your car has the correct routing (as Charlie boy would say "whatever correct means").

I replaced all the brake lines and faithfully copied the same routes. The pipes originals were very corroded and looked like they had not been touched.

Sorry Mark, I haven’t got any more pics, but I’ll get some after lockdown stops.

Guy - yes under the outside edge of the floor stiffener. Held in place by two steel clips that go into the side wall of the stiffener. The brake pipes do not run in the tunnel. The fuel pipe goes along the outer edge of the other floor stiffener on drivers side.

I chose to put the brake pipe through the tunnel. I wasnt after originality!
But the fuel pipe is under the car. Its just my assumption that between the rails of the stiffener would give it more protection, was a mistake. I hadnt allowed for the seat fixing bolt! Easy enough to correct though.😊
