MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Another Worst Job

Just refitted the seats into the car. Took over one hour for 8 bolts. How do you stop the rails falling off the seat as you lower it into the car.

1 hour? Lol. You'll get quicker the more you do it. Mind you, being younger helps with that. What decade are you in Jan?

Couple of dabs of superglue. Not much, just enough to hold it. It'll break away easily first time you move the seat.

It's been a while since I converted to mgf seats.

But my memory seems to recall it not being difficult. One runner is locked on by the adjuster tooth, and the other is easily fitted by tilting the seat. Honestly I don't remember the runners falling off.

I just welded bolt on the seat runners and drilled the fixed nuts off the floor and you put the nuts on from below when i fitted my mgf seats. takes a couple of mins to remove them now

A couple of zip ties keep the runners attached to the frame. Not too tight and they still slide ok.
Again, before fitting mgf seats I modified the runner to floor fixings for quick removal, mainly for drying out sodden carpets. First using antiluce bolts - drop them through the floor and reach underneath to flip them over to lock. Worked except they kept vibrating loose and rattling. So I then 'upgraded' to use bicycle wheel spindle quick release overcentre catches. They worked very well other than a tendancy to pick up road dirt. But R & R both front seats was a quick 5 minute job!

Mine kept falling out of the groove.
Think I slid it back on whilst in the car just before locating the holes.
Was much quicker on the second seat.

Feeding the speedo cable through the firwall. Cable no problem but nut is a real pain. Eventually slit a nozzle from a tube of sealer, forced it over the cable, screwed it itno the nut and pulled it through.
