MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Archives

I know answers to most queries can be found in the archives and I sometimes feel remiss when raising a topic that has probably been covered before. However if we all simply referred to the achives there would be no new postings for us to read and respond to. That's my excuse for covering old ground.

I totally agree - it's good to have a "live" discussion, especially about a hard to solve problem. When I was restoring the Frogeye this bbs was invaluable and kept me going, especially on the difficult days.

I have, and still find, the archives really difficult to use. Jokes are made about getting lost in there but I can never get anything meaningful with the search facility. It either comes up with zero results or a really long list, often unrelated to the word searched on. I've searched for threads that I have started and still failed to find them. Once something has dropped off the topics list its gone! The only way I can use the archive is by browsing through random topics which can be fascinating but no good when you are looking for a specific answer!

Asking Google will often take you to specific responses from the archives and other Sprite forums too. Sometimes worth a try.

It's often worth a look in the archive. The answer is often there but it might also be ancient and you can't be sure if things have moved on.

There are probably loads of thread in the archive asking about tyres but what's available changes by the month so tyre threads quickly become out of date.

Don’t worry! Just please keep posting new questions on new threads and contributing to existing threads. Discussion, sharing ideas and experience is what keeps things alive and lively on here.

I do find the archives sometimes handy and sometimes baffling to use. Googling can help and then finding the thread on the archive search once you know its title, month and year, then reactivate it and post a reply as an update question.

I find the archives quite easy to use, and find what I'm looking for most of the time. They would be beter if everybody used an intelligent title when starting a thread, but use of the search options, choice of words, and a bit of patience usually pys off.

Sometimes I start a new thread even if a suject has been covered before though, esp' if I want to say or add something that contradicts or adds new information to the subject.

This bbs is so good, because it has a huge archive, and new questions/threads are adding to it.
