MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Camshaft securing nut Torque Setting?
Just finished fitting my new 276 Kent Cam :) together with vernier cam sprocket :) and feeling rather chuffed to have got it all set up correctly. The Haynes manual then instructs me to re-fit the Camshaft retaining nut and torque to the correct setting. HOWEVER, there does not appear to be a torque setting for this nut in the manual??? Can anyone please help? Thanks once again, Glynn

From a Metro manual...65lb/ft

Thanks Dave. If I don't receive any advice contradictory to that before tomorrow evening, 65lb/ft it will be! Cheers

Phoned the brother - he's a Mini nut. He reckons 65 ft/lb. On the other hand he likes Minis.........

A-Series is definitely 65 lbf. ft. torque for the camshaft nut.
Richard Wale
Thanks to all that confirmed the setting of 65lb/ft - job now done and feeling very pleased with myself for taking it all apart AND putting it back together again in one piece. Cheers, Glynn

Glynn. Well done. I hope you remembered to refit the oil thrower. Easily missed. Don't ask how I know this. Bernie.
