MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Disc bolts

Hi Guys,
1275 Mk 3 Midget
Next project is to build & up & replace my front hubs with new ones.
My question, when I bolt up the new Discs to the hubs, should I use anti seize on the bolt threads or is it best / normal practice to bolt them up " Dry" ?
cheers all

I have done mine dry for the last 35 years without any issues. Never had one seize up.

What's the significance of the unusual bolt heads? Shallow hex, with slots and a recessed centre.

"These are special set screws which are designed to stay tight without the aid of a spring washer or locktite, these should be renewed when fitting new discs. 3/8″ UNF THREAD 11/16″ long."

I would imagine it’s to distinguish them from standard h/t bolts

If replacing with new I'd add a little medium (blue?) threadlock as I've had a lot of new parts with loose threads.

I've also been out with a mate as a passenger a few years back when one of his front calipers dropped, luckily it was just at a right turn off so he was (unusually) going quite slow at the time in his 4.0l TVR Chimaera, he'd replaced the discs & pads that morning and forgot the threadlock.

ETA: my concern would be fitting of the new hubs, but then wot could possibly go wrong ... :)

Might they also have a special attribute of withstanding shear forces, as well as tensional and self locking features.

Originally perhaps I don't know, but at least one I saw offered what looked like an ordinary setscew on the part number.

I do sometimes wonder if past British car manufacturer and engineering practice might be over attributed and perhaps over romanticised, but I'm too young and too far removed to know. :)

I use socket cap screws on mine and do them up two heaves tight. They don't come undone as they rust in place pretty quickly.

But I have never been one to do things by the book! *shrugs*
