MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Draught excluder

Of course, I'm too old, too big and too stiff to get into a frogeye properly. This is the third draught excluder in 25 years that breaks down in this way. Does anyone have a solution?

Weld the door shut ( Dukes of Hazzard style ) and climb in the window ?

I'm only 1.78m and 54 yo and I find the Sprite 'tight' to get in, especially with the roof up.

I suppose you could find a "U" shaped piece of plastic to slide over the seal for getting or out ?
Malc Gilliver

"IF" those metal clips are/were part of the seal, there is a seal called a pinchweld seal that has the clips moulded into the moulding of the seal--varios sizes/shapes available--

The original door seal used steel instead of aluminium as the core and it clipped tightly to the door aperture and wasn't a problem. The metal U clips are just not up to holding the aluminium in that location.
I have been searchibf for the original steel cored seal but not had any luck. Willys suggesttion may be a way forward but I don't think it has a coloured braid as I have only seen it in black

Not original, and only in black, i use a draught excluder from Woolies: it has,so far, lasted 21yrs.
If the draught excluder pushes the door away there is a type that instead of a tubed seal has but a flap thus exerting less pressure.

A few blobs of mastic seam sealer along the edge of the door flange before fitting the rubber seal works fine with the aluminium cored type and no fiddly clips required

Having had a look at Woolies website it appears that 266 is what I used on my Sebring Rep. shown in picture above
The one with a flap, for tight doors, is 265A.

Thanks for the info Alan, that's very useful info to have.

Thank you foor the information!

If I'd known the Woolies 265A would be better for my Frog as the Moss stuff I used holds the doors out. Thanks Alan.
