MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Dunlop Replica Wheels

It's time like this I wish the sprite could take a 15" wheel.

These would be top of the list!

R Williams

Very nice - look like D type Jaguar wheels. Pity they don't do them in 13".
Jeremy Tickle

Are early elan wheels not similar and 13 inch
mark 1500 on the road Preston Lancs

Really beautiful; I saw an ad for 13" versions a while back and thought I'd go for them until I saw they were £650 each! And that doesn't include spinners or the centre-lock conversion I'd have to do. I think they were made by an Italian firm.
Nick Nakorn

Thought you were selling up Rylan?
Lawrence Slater

These are the only steels you can get in UK. Holes a bit too big, but not far off. Andy

A Cross

I think they may be alloy rather than steel but at £650 a pop I'd be scared stiff in case I kerbed them.
Jeremy Tickle

All that is , is a old style wheel from early on that used the small chrome hub cap they just replaced the hub cap with a spinner cap and some chrome lugs then powder coated the wheel

Those wheels.show up on ebay from time to time so shouldnt be hard to source any wheel store will those center spinners about $5-10 each

Should be cheap and easy enough to replicate and I think for as thin as that metal is in the wheel, id want riggid steel instead of a wobble ally aluminum

Prop,

Please talk about something you have knowledge about as "id want riggid steel instead of a wobble ally aluminum" shows your ignorance of engineering. Aluminium wheels can be lighter and still stronger/stiffer than their steel counterparts when correctly engineered, that's why they make them, the downside is they cost more to make.

the photo wheels look flimsy to me,

but hey if you want to fly thur a tight turn at 90 mph on a thin 26 gauged aluminum sheet metal wheel ...its your life, ill cry for you if want.

Prop,

Which bit gave you the impression the wheels were thin as the original photo clearly shows plenty of metal thickness in the wheel so maybe your viewer is at fault and you should have a look at a better resolution. I have seen steel wheels in the past which were silver on the outside and painted black on the inside which on brief inspection looked very thin but were actually about 3mm thick but due to the black paint in the vent holes looked much thinner until a close inspection was made.
