MG Midget and Sprite Technical - exhaust/inlet gasket

greetings gents/ladies I have fitted a new inlet/exhaust
gasket but things do not look right. The rubber spacers
and heat shield seems to be to close to the manifold.
were any other thickness? regards Pete

P C Knightley

I ran out of radiowave bi directional aluminum foil last night, so my mind reading ability is very limited at the moment....

Any chance you can post some photos for the time being

Pete
You need to state which engine you have (1275 or 1500) and, as Prop says, a picture would be invaluable.
Chris
Chris Hasluck

hi Prop /chris its a 1275 taken out to 1330.
its been resting for 3 years so i am trying to get back
on the road. Then decide whether to sell or keep.

I don't know where the pictures are going they
seem to be disappearing into space!!
P C Knightley

greetings gents. well an update. The new gasket must have
been thin so I bought another the same and used it
on the carbs (1 1/4 SU) with some judicious filing
of the heat shield to increase the gap.
well its all fitted, and I am actually getting close
to having it back on the road. 4 new 205/60/13 tyres
is going to hit the bank balance.
Prop have you sorted your woes out?
Pete
P C Knightley

205/60s are pretty wide for a road Midget! They will be sapping all your power!
Guy Weller

Hi Guy, yes its got revolutions on. Its got a one off
body some one built in 1986. I think it is was built as
a mod sports. I have a 45 dco but don't use it on the road. regards Pete
P C Knightley

I'm even more keen to see a picture - the whole car, please!

Do you have to register your desire to post pictures, under "customize"?
Nick and Cherry Scoop

Are you using a tabet, or smart phone...I cant pkst thur that, but someone said I have to change the resolution of the file extention to post photos thur android / apple devices

I use drop box cloud for posting pics

The tires probably will eat alot of performance because they do have a big foot print... but they look amazing on the midget esp with flared fenders

Bill young (rip) had the same set up of thkse tires and revolutions plus flared on all for corners and that car just popped crazy bad assī...but he also had V6 aluminum high performace engne and a bullet proof 5 speed, shoe horned with no space to spare also to back up the look

Im assuming you have rwa and not SWA

Post photos please some how, I want to see this

Maybe, Pete you are missing a step in uploading your photo? Sequence is Upload/ Browse / submit and then Submit again. And only one photo a time, and not too large or the system cannot cope.
Guy Weller
