MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Ferranti Hardtop
I've recently acquired a hardtop for my Mk 2 Midget, 1964. It is very good quality, and has a maker's nameplate on the inside. ' Denis Ferranti Laminations Ltd ' Anyone have any info on this maker please ? Cheers.

I had one a few years ago. It was also a Mk2 'works' hardtop. I believe that Ferranti was one of the companies contracted to produce hardtops for BMC in the sixties. They were located somewhere in the Midlands - possibly West Bromwich, from memory.

No mention of hardtops here, but they were quite a diverse organisation... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferranti
