MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Fitting new perspex to Frogeye side screens

I'm posting on behalf of a friend who wants to fit new perspex to his Frogeye side screens, but can't see how it might be achieved.
I have no experience of this procedure, so I thought I'd ask on here to see if I can get any suggestions which might help him.

You have to bend the Perspex to get it in , pig of a job but made easier if the perspex is warm as its more pliable . Roy

hair dryer or immersion in very hot water to help it bend a bit (otherwise it can crack/snap).

Thanks chaps. That's what he had been thinking was the only way, but hoped there may be an alternative method. So I guess he'll have to bite the bullet and be careful.
I'll pass on your thoughts.

There is an alternative. Use a bottle jack mid point along the frame. Raise it a knat's - slide the screens to the center and they'll come out without bending. I've done this a few times and never had any distortion.

I think you will find that polycarbonate is much less brittle than perspex, so it would be worth paying slightly more for the better material. I'm not sure about scratch resistance, but polycarbonate is used for machine guarding - so it should be OK for a Frog.

Perspex or Plexiglas on this side of the pond has an interesting property. After it is heated it will return to its original shape if left alone. Heating with a strip heater will allow it to bend in a small area and can then be placed in the grooves of the frame. As it cools it will return to its flat shape. A heavy duty heat gun will also work but it will heat a bigger area. I haven't used Lexan (polycarbonate) but I think it has the same properties
