MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Free paint

Anyone within useful distance of B33 9AN who'd like some free maroon engine paint let me know. Had the freight people grumble about some deep in the bowels of one of my shipments. Otherwise it is pay zillions to dispose of this threatening substance.

Seems a spray can is on the same footing as a bomb! The freight people won't ship it, ouriers won't accept it to return to supplier, so it must be "officially and safely disposed of" 😂.
Bit of a waste, so I thought I'd check if anyone was handy and would like a free can.

I take it that the tin has leaked so there is a perceived danger of contamination and damage to other customer's goods in transit. Unlikely maybe, but with a potential for damage to a very high value item. Well, maybe something worth more than the paint.
If the lid has come off shouldn't the supplier be sorting it out?

From memory, I think I used VW Gambia Red, as recommended by Chris Betson (Octarine Services).

Alternatively, I may have just used what was in the cupboard, Damask red.

Guy, none of those. It was well packed in its own in a solid cardboard box inside a 1 cu m From crate. It is classified Haz Chem apparently and this triggered the whole saga. .

Paul, that's very surprising then. I have bought loads of paint, always sent by post or courier. Cans always sealed, taped up and wrapped in bubble wrap. But that's all. Includes cellulose and 2 k isocyanates. Many businesses rely on that. The only obvious difference is transport by air in a non pressurised hold. But again, that would be about potential leakage rather than chemically hazardous, wouldn't it?

Same deal here Paul, pressure paks are listed as dangerous goods for air freight---and fair enough too.
All pressure paks that come here are sea freight.
Strangely though, my brother bought some (4Lt) nitro for mixing with his model aeroplane fuel from the mainland and it came airfreight because the sender hadn't tagged it properly--Wouldn't want to have been on a freight plane if that went BOOM

Absolutely right about it not going on a lane. This was sea freight, as were all the earlier ones.

Probably some greeny just out of school tagged it too scarey to touch---It'd be interesting to know how they hand it over when someone goes to pick it up--I doubt it's still sitting where they first found it--Have probably picked it up (full protective clothing)and put it on a shelf somewhere.
