MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Frog rear wheel arch

Is your Frog deformed?

I am after a dimension check from one that isn't!

I need someone who could use a string line or straight edge along the bottom of the sill, and extend it rearwards to the rear of the wheel arch. Use the ledge of the sill, rather than the bottom of the flange bit. Dead straight with the sill, does it intersect with the bottom corner of the arch behind the wheel? Or is that pointy bit above or below the extended sill line?

I am adding a repair panel to the rear wing on mine, and there is nothing left of the lower part of the wing to determine exactly how low the patch panel should extend.

Its not level on a 1500 the rear panel bottom edge is a good inch or so higher. (just realised yours is a frog - doh)
Dave Squire

Thanks for the response Dave! My other car is a 1275 Austin Sprite, which, like the 1500, is higher at the back. But what about the Frog? (Clue was in the title!)

Guy
Would it help if I photographed one of my cars in side profile and e-mailed it to you.

Alan, It might. But I have been looking at photos of cars and it is generally quite hard to tell from a photo. Most are 3/4 view which doesn't work. And for the few true side-on views one cannot be sure that there isn't a degree of lens distortion towards the edges of the photos.

As far as I can tell, it should be very close to level with the sill line I described (the ledge, that is) But it could be as much as 3/4" above or below that line and it would be hard to tell on a photo. A measurement would be better, and probably easier.
Guy Weller

can't you make it the same as the other side?
David Smith

Problem David, is that it is already the same as the other side. That is why I need a measurement from a third side!
Guy Weller

Guy
I have put a straight edge across and from ledge to tip of rear wing is ident - give or take a gnats whisker on both of my cars, Frog and Sebring (Frog)rep

Thanks Alan
Exactly what I needed to know.
And what I suspected. There is a classic neatness in the design.
