MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Frogeye windscreen

Hi,
Has anyone had a Frogeye windscreen replaced recently? If so who did you use, any supplier known for decent value, and is the glass easily available?
I phoned one of the local independent companies, they sounded dubious about even getting a screen and never got back to me.

The Frog is getting close to a return to the road but the windscreen has seen better days.

Thanks for any advice.

I got mine from Moss. It was a laminated and off the shelf. I renewed the seal at the same time.

Thanks Bob, I'll give them a ring. Did you fit it yourself? Straightforward or tricky?
I've got a replacement seal in my spares collection already.

Hi Paul I fitted it myself and had not done one before. I found it easier to get the lower corners in first, then work around to the top. It does need patience and the careful use of a very blunt screwdriver to ease the rubber round. washing up liquid helps the seal slip into place. Don't forget the filler strip afterwards! Bob

I got mine from Frogeye Spares Co.
I used a home made tool to fit the filler / spreader seal into the main rubber seal.
Take a short length of copper plumbing tube. about 6 inches will do. Pinch one end so that it looks like a key hole. Press the pinched end into the slot in the main seal to spread it feed in the filler rubber from the other end and then draw the pipe along, maintaing pressure, whilst feeding the filler into the slot.
I made a tool from conduit with a blunt screwdriver type nylon end as a prodder to fit the main seal.
Good luck!

Thanks all, I'll get on the phone & get one myself. I'll no doubt be back here with fitting questions next week.

Paul,
When I got a new glass from Moss it came in a huge ply packing case. There was a "refundable" £35 deposit on the case. But I couldn't get any courier to agree to collect it from a private address because of the size. Not even the same firm that had delivered it! Ended up modifying it as an additional workbench and shelved storage unit. Actually quite good value for that!
Guy Weller

That's useful to know Guy, as I'm struggling to get one delivered although I've not tried Moss yet.
