MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Head gasket supplier

1098 supercharged blows head gasket every 18 months or so - recreational hazard I know. Block and head flat as proverbial pancakes. So I usually buy replacement from local motor factors for about a tenner. I see that mini spares do a performance one for 20 quid or so. Anyone know if these are any better? Alternatively any other suggestions ? Cost irrelevant.

Hi, I use a Payen gasket which is a black composite type BK450 which has never let me down. I think this is what they recommend on the Metro Turbo's so should stand up to forced induction.

This is on a fast road 1275 so not sure if it will work with a 1098 engine. Although I do see that they have a similar one listed for the 1098 (number AF070)

Thanks

Standard 1500. A payen fixed all my HGF woes.

Payen 1098 gasket was a copper/steel/filler sandwhich type last time I saw one.

I love my cometic HG

Its a MLS, you can get them for any compression ratio, and there reusable, just make sure to drill out the rivet on next to the vin plate on the block and there now common on ebay ... yes there a little more expensive, but my engine was worth it...and its holding togather fine...in the long run im already ""a head""

Hi

Try Peter May Enginnering:
http://www.petermayengineering.co.uk/catalogue7.htm#catalogue7

Or Peter Burgess Engineering, Swiftune or Bill Richards Racing (all A Series engine builders).

If I remember correctly the 1098cc engine is not the same block as the 1275cc, the former is part if the small bore engine family along with 998cc engines, so different heads and gaskets to 1275cc engines. Look in Viizard,s A Series engine book, or more expert views will be along.

Cheers
