Please can you tell me whether there's anything special about these studs? The long ones are like this . . . . . . .

I just wondered if they would need a different torque setting from what Manuel says.

This is just for fun: I liked the frosty studs, and you can see the gold timing cover.

If I remember correctly, the long ones with the pimple are Metro studs.

No doubt someone will correct me if that's wrong!

Not quite, Peter. The later higher torque ones have a dimple mot a pimple.

Id imagine there like all the others just torque to finger tight the nut/ washer does all the real torque work

Which is around 50 to 55 ftlbs

Are the pimple studs just off the hardware store shelf studs.

I had gotten 2 replacment long before i did my engine rebuild off the shelf in a local hardware store... and worked up until the engine busted its crankshaft and i recall they where pimpled

Thanks all. Only 40lbs/ft for me, Prop. It's only a 948cc engine.

Interesting about running the pump dry, Clare. Would it seat OK if I just ran it for a while on my drill? Or does it need the eccentric load of the belt?

Yes, I was aware that the higher torque bolts (Metro turbo) have a dimple not a pimple but thought those with a pimple were fitted to the standard Metro.

Very likely I'm wrong though and just getting my pimples mixed up with my dimples.

It would be good to know for sure as it could be useful in a car club pub quiz!
