MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Help with bulb identification.

Hi, wondering if anyone can help ID the type of bulb I need from looking at the holder as the new loom does not use the original type bulbs.

These are for the high beam and red IGN lights and to backlight the fuel gauge.

If possible could you post a pic or link so I can see the bulb and will know what to buy.

Thanks
Mark

and another.

I am presuming it would be a 5w bulb or there abouts?

Mark, check out the Moss page

It's probably a 3w capless but check the dimensions

Definitely capless. I would say probably 2.2w or 3w.

5w capless often used as sidelamp bulb in 'moderns', probably a bit bright/hot for instruments.

They should be 12 volt bulbs if you dont have a relay... We have a radio shack here that sources those kinds of bulbs
Prop and the Blackhole Midget

I would say you need a light bulb. A tulip or daffodil bulb probably wouldn't do...

I'll get my coat :-D

Looks like a T10 bulb. Do a google image search for "T10 bulb" for lots of pictures. T-series bulbs have a wedge base, the number (10) refers to the width of the base in mm, so you can probably measure your holder to make sure it's not a T8 or smaller.

As Dave says, around 2.2-3W would be about right for the warning lamps.

Hi

What they all said.

In the Moss catalog, item #26

In the Autosparks catalog, as per Dave's link above, #CB-504.

Your loom has the modern socket, which takes these "capless" bulbs. I have no idea why Moss listed it as a "0.75W", because I am sure Dave is right, it is more like 3W. If you look closely at the base of the bulb you took out of the socket, there is probably written in ink the bulb number and / or the wattage, just so you can make sure you don't put in one bulb which is very different in brightness from your other ones.

It's a new loom - I don't think it came with bulbs.

OK, in that case, then Definitely, Autosparks #CB-504, as they are the source of those new looms! :)
