MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Heritage shell rebuild (cont.)

Hi to all again. Well, the rebuild continues, at a slow pace! Today however, I came across a new problem; my car is a '65 Sprite mk3, on a Heritage shell. This meant that I had to use the twin brake and master cylinder set up from later cars, and of course the later pedal box arrangement. Ok so far.
Today I fitted the refurbished regulator and Dynamo (big thanks to Dr.John from Midget & Sprite Club - a true gent), also the Accuspark distributor and coil. Whilst at it, I attempted to trial fit the heater and blower assembly - and here lies the problem. Whilst the heater (square shape type) will fit, the large blower will not. There is no room for it, if used with the later pedal box.
Have any of you come across this? If so, did you use an alternative blower unit from another vehicle? Any helpful comments would be much appreciated. John.

quoting from the bible (Horler) p.108 -
"...new pedal box for the 1275 Spridgets. The blower unit was moved closer to the heater unit to allow space for this, but now left insufficient room for the air valve (flap). Initially this was relocated to the front of the ducting pipe behind the radiator grille, but later a new blower intake housed th evalve (see pic).

So you probably need a later blower motor than the one you have, and the mounting brackets to go with it. Richard Woolley does refurbished heater units and is possibly a good source of the right parts. He's at Silverstone next weekend....

Thanks for that David. Will consult my copy of the 'Horler Bible'. Not heard of Richard Woolley before, so again appreciate that information. Regards, John.

I have bought a number of parts from Rich Woolley over the last few years. They have always been top notch for a reasonable price, and he's a very nice person to deal with.

Thanks again David. Hi Dominic, appreciate your comments - still not finished rebuild yet!

I had the same issue but made an adapter plate to cover the existing cutout to take the original pedal box. I think I had to cut a bit more out at the bottom from memory. Worked out quite well though.
