MG Midget and Sprite Technical - HIF6 Lift pin ?
Am currently refurbing a HIF6 - trying to get it fitted and sorted for the MGCC rolling road @ Aldon in November - as a back to back test against my previous visit on 2 x 1.25HS2'. Seem to have a hole where possibly a lift pin was mounted - did HIF6's have lift pins as not shown in the manual I have ? Do I need to plug this hole ? or is it not an issue. Currently also have a replacement throttle spindle bar problem being too short to fit the return spring, but will talk to Burlen on Tuesday about that. R.

Don't know the HIF6. Is it the same as the HIF44? If so, mine has a lift pin.

The HIF6 is not the same as the HIF44 which is why it was given a different name. While the HIF6 is an inch and 3/4 the later produced HIF44 is fractionally smaller at 44mm. There are probably more variations of the HIF44 than the HIF6 including the turbo carbs and automatic choke versions.

OK Daniel, but does the HIF6 have a lift pin?
Mike Howlett
Yes it does. Well the two on my V8 do :0) One of which was very seized after sitting around for ten years. Works fine now after a lot of swearing trying to free it off..... Fit a pin, spring and c spring clip or just plug the hole if you don't intend to use it. MGmike
