MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Hydraulic brake light switch

Does anyone know what the thread and thread size is on the standard hydraulic brake light switch. I'm guessing it's a British Standard Taper.

Also does anyone know of any cheap and reliable hydraulic brake light switches in an american National Pipe Taper thread.

Thanks
Daniel Thirteen-Twelve

Daniel - The thread is 1/8 American Pipe tapered. It is pretty much internationally used on all hydraulic brake light switches. Just about all the switches on the market today are junk, except for the one sold by Ron Francis Wiring http://www.ronfrancis.com/ The P/N is SW-32 and is rather expensive, but seems to hold up very well. The alternative is to make and install a relay/arc suppression circuit. See the article, Brake Light Relay in the Other Tech Articles section of my web site at: http://homepages.donobi.net/sufuelpumps/ Cheers - Dave

I did hear that a brake light switch for a certain model of Harley Davidson motor cycle was a straight swop for a Spridget but never followed it up.

I think the aim was for an improvement in reliability ;-)

Thanks for the replies. A follow up question is this: Is the original 1969 thread on the 4 way union on my car tapped for NPTF or is it tapped for BSP?
