MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Inner Bush Removal

Morning All
Successfully removed ARB. Now need to drop rear part of wish bone to remove the inner old bushes. The fulcrum pins came out easily along with the outer bushes. The question is how do I get the inner ones out. Do you now just force the arm down. I ask this question as I'm wondering if the metal sleeve crosses between the chassis and arm, thereby making any attempt to get the arm down futile.

You’ve done the hard bit. It should just pull out, now. Maybe lever gently behind it.

Were your inner fulcrum pins fitted as per your drawing? They should be fitted from inside.

Thanks for the response.
Being a bit ignorant here. When you say "Pull them out" do you mean the bushes. If the bushes, they can't be pulled out as they are sandwiched between chassis & wishbone.
With regard to the pin direction. When I dismantled having looked at numerous diagrams, workshop manual, Haynes etc. I thought they should be as you said. The attached photos show the arrangement on the passenger side, yet to do.
Image 1 is the Left outer side of the wishbone
Image 2 is the Right outer side of the wishbone
The plate ends correspond with the slot in the Chassis.
I also noted that the ends of the nuts/bolts do not have a split pin, the nut is not nyloc either.
It's a 77 1500 midget

Sorry, no, I meant pull the wishbone. It should just pull away, or use a lever behind it to help it on its way.

The fulcrum pin should be fitted from the inside and there should be a stepped washer to fit into the outer hole. It’s not uncommon for them to be fitted the wrong way, but they don’t locate properly.

The inner wishbone has the special bolts as per your pics, actually called 'inner wishbone pivots'.

They both have to be removed, then as Dave has said the wishbone should just pull out - maybe need a bit of 'waggling' or a gentle lever with a big screwdriver.

I note you have already removed the spring as it would be dangerous if not !!!

If you can't get the pivot bolts out they must be cut through and removed - I used a new hacksaw blade in a padsaw - slow but sure - others I understand have used a thin cut off disc but access is limited.

The old rubber of the bushes tends to weld itself to the faces of the chassis brackets, but will just pull clear. A large flat lever of some sort between the lower wishbone and the chassis used next to each bush usually helps.

Just for clarity, the shoulder on the stepped washer fits into the large hole on the chassis mount. That's what provides location.

It looks like the forward pin on the passenger side is fitted the wrong way. Check the hole for ovality.

Fitted the correct way round they are also easier to drift out

Thanks for that info. Just checked all 4 fulcrum bolts and none of them have item 26. just a nut, not even a washer. Looking at the chassis, both sides of where the wishbone locate in the chassis have holes to accept the "keyed" type washer. Glad you bought that to my attention. Think I'll get 4 new bolts tomorrow including the large keyed washer & put back together properly

That diagram is a bit misleading, as it makes it look like the pin should be going through the rearmost hole in the wishbone.

I've repositioned it here.
