MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Manifold paint or coating?

I have a rusty but solid LCB manifold that I want to either paint or get ceramic coated. Does anyone know of somewhere in the West Midlands that do ceramic coating and an idea of the price? Even DIY paint and preparation materials are quite expensive so I'm thinking that ceramic coating may be more cost effective with a better chance of success. I've attached a photo and would welcome anyone's opinion whether it is worth doing.

I've used this stuff with success on motorcycle exhausts, which is what it's marketed for. Never tried on a car exhaust, though it's said to be good for 1200 degrees F whatever that is in C.

You need to descale thoroughly and clean with non-residue solvent (e.g. surgical spirit) then preheat it a bit to help the paint flow.

Several thin coats better than on thick coat.

Then follow the advice about heat curing.

I don't have any photos of finished results, but it was more than acceptable if the prep was done carefully. It's not difficult or expensive.

Sounds cheap enough, did you completely remove all rust?

Zircotech www.zircotech.com do ceramic coatings in a range of colours. Not cheap but looks very good.

...and so do zircotec

<<did you completely remove all rust?>>

Sure did Andy. I was as thorough as I could be. I usually used a wire cup brush in the small angle grinder and finished off with wet-and-dry. It doesn't take long, but don't leave it more than a day between cleaning and painting or the surface will oxidise again.

IIRC I preheated in the oven at 100 degrees C. But I didn't tell SWMBO haha!

I too have used a super high temperature paint to do a manifold.

Scrub thoroughly with wire brush, clean with preferred solvent, slap on paint. Job done. Seems to be holding up OK after six months or so.

Kerema coat

or maybe its

creama coat

or some strange spelling to do with cremcoat

but i hear its good stuff
prop

I think you mean Camcoat Prop. I used that on both inlet and exhaust and made a gig difference to under bonnet temperature. Not cheap but cheaper than Zitcotec
