MG Midget and Sprite Technical - MGB Front Dampers

I’m wondering what the negative sides are of fitting MGB dampers to the front end of my fast road Midget? In terms of engineering loads it seems a much better solution than the stock set up. So what are the down sides?

Cheers, Kurt

Bigger hole in your inner wing. Need to move the hole where the brake pipes pass through inner wing on some mks. This also can result in brake pipe rubbing on tyre on lock if you get the new position wrong - as I did!!!
Otherwise far better than standard.
If you use the plates from ????? it raises the top arm slightly and has a subtle change to bump steer which you probably won't notice, but you do get the ability to change the camber settings (or make them at least the same each side!!!)
I put ?????? cause I can't remember the name of the company.

hi kurt
I agree with rob,,,and the other topic on top links currently running. I also found the tyre rubbing on full lock so had to move hoses a tad and re-bleed

Good bit of kit from mamba and after sales help.
All you need is a good pair of b shocks

Thanks fellas,

This is what I’m going with. I’m off to get B dampers tomorrow.

A possible problem with the Mamba set up is that the bolts used to mount the shock absorber have already had their heads cut to half their normal thickness to enable them to fit under the plate, and when in position only two of the six hexagon sides of each bolt are in contact with the plate.(as you can see in Jeremy's picture)
I made up my own plates and once I'd got the camber right, I marked them, took them off and welded the bolts to the plate. So I am now running with about 1.5° negative camber on each side.
It has transformed the handling and the car turns in to corners much better.
Of course, except for the larger hole in the inner wing, the process is completely reversible.
