MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Oil Pressure line

I got a little impatient pulling the motor on Wednesday and broke the flared end off the oil pressure line right at the brass nut. Can i re-flare it, it's tiny? Moss wants a couple of testicles, is there a more reasonable alternative?

I probably still have my old one from adding an oil cooler....but your welcome to it, but it will mid to late next week before I can look for it

If you got a spare float on a shelf somewhere id love to trade but if not your welcome to it still just the same

Is it a flare, or is it a soldered-on fitting?
Dave O'Neill 2

I can't tell, but I think it was soldered. The fitting fell out and is lost!

Prop, I need the 1/8" line from the block to the gauge. I have a float floating around with your name on it. Text me your address and I'll send it off when I find it. If you have the gauge line I'd love it.

Thanks

Sorry buddy,

I misunderstood... I thought you meant the line from the block to the oil filters head

If you get a cheap oil gauge at the autozone, they have multiple connections and nylon line, you could probably swap out the nylon for brass at home depot

Ill get back with you on the float

Thanks

Phil,

I don't know this for a fact, but is that a compression fitting that is neither soldered nor flared? If it is, you could just get a new ferril (sorry, can't spell it but I don't mean a wild cat). It would slide onto the tube and then get crushed into place when tightened.

This is what is shown on the Moss site.

I'm not sure if the ferrule is soldered or not, but it doesn't look like it's available separately.

Dave it appears to be 2 diffeant methods but both seem to pass thur #25

Prop

I think if both methods do use #25, then there is no solider connection

Just my opinion

I'm going to try a standard ferrel. I think that will work.
I won't trust a plastic line, If I can't use the existing one, I'll replace with copper.

Prop, text me your address and I'll mail you a float (as is, not warranted)
