MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Radio aerial

I have a radio in my 1275 Sprite that needs an aerial to get it to work. I very rarely use the radio as I have such poor hearing. I could use the argument that on a Spridget you enjoy the exhaust and the induction roar more. But I do need to add an aerial if the radio itself is to be retained.

I don't want to drill the bodywork. Are there other simple low cost possibilities to look out for?

No idea if this would work Guy but could it fit (just) on the dash top?

Thanks Jeremy. That looks very promising! I guess I should have looked for options myself but I wasn't sure what to search for. Only downside of that would seem to be the excessive length of cable to hide. 5 metres would go twice around the cockpit!

How would I know if my radio is fm or digital? Did I imagine they stopped doing fm radio signals a while ago?
GuyW

FM is still broadcast; even my modern has DAB & FM and the FM sometimes has better reception.

Guy
I fitted mine a long time ago and used a rubber stub type ariel up under the dash passengers side.

Seems to work Ok but Ten I don't use the radio much.

Thanks all. Ive ordered the one like the link Jeremy posted, except with a 2 m, not 5 metre lead. As long as it picks up a signal to work a mid 1990's radio thats all that matters.
GuyW

Yeah but no but, all you'll get is 90's music Guy. 🤣.

I used to use a tax disc aerial. It worked suprisingly well. I've probably still got it somewhere, but I stopped listening to the radio in the car yonks ago.

No good to you now though if you've bought something.

Here's a modern version. Expensive though.

Anamn, the scope was to simply get the radio to work. As explained, I don't actually listen to it!
If a £2.90 ebay aerial does the job then that's a win!
