MG Midget and Sprite Technical - removing ARB

suddenly thought is there a correct or best way or sequence to remove the ARB

I've done it before and it seemed too easy but I might not have done it the best or correct way or sequence
Nigel Atkins

1. Undo nuts and bolts.

2. Remove.

Refitting is the reverse of the removal procedure.

ah, yes Dave but which nuts and bolts - wheels up in the air or just lifted or fully on the ground

did you use to work for a certain publishing company :)
Nigel Atkins

the bar will have no load on it when the car is sitting on its wheels

there still will be no load when the wheels are at full droop, but it will be rotated when in that position

it is a little bit easier to undo the suspension ends first, and then remove from the frame, and when re-fitting, attach to the frame first and then to the suspension, but it can really be done either way

Hmmm,

If only you owned a service manual for the year and make of the car......hahahaha

... and make sure you have a mole grip or similar to stop the balljoint turning in the bush (drop-arm) when you put toque on the nut to undo it...

The only time that there is a load on it is if you were to jack one side up at a time, - as you might think was a good idea to gain better access. This would in effect "roll" the car. The bar would then counteract that (its an anti-roll bar) and be under some tension as the ends are being twisted.

Nigel, you didn't mention refitting it afterwards. So why not use a grinder in several places, it will fall away quite easily after that. :)
