MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Repairing damage to 1500 cam bearing

OK, this was my ham fisted fault. It was one of those "one last jobs" in an evening, when I should have just walked away.

I am currently preparing a 1500 block for a rebuild. I was going to remove all the core plugs and have the block dipped. There is a core plug at the back of the block to seal off the camshaft bore and whilst removing this plug I have scuffed the cam bearing surface. See the attached, highlighted green.

On the 1500 the cam runs directly in the block, so I can't just replace a set of bearing shells. So, what are my options?

1. Do nothing.
2. Repair with some sort of super metal filled high temperature epoxy?
3. Fill with silver solder/braze? Or weld?
4. Have it bored and sleeved (most £££ option I imagine).

The damage is at the top, so not the loaded surface (all the force on the cam is downwards).

Your thoughts and ideas (on how to repair, not my idiocy) are appreciated.

Hi Malcolm
Buy a set of bearing scrapers and you will be able to remove the high spots, the bearing should then be ok by the look of the picture.

Hi Peter, I gave it a quick squizz with a cylinder honing tool to knock off any burrs.

Then you think it will be OK as is?

I do think it will be ok, you have a good large bearing surface.
