MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Sticky glue

The glue I used when trimming the Frog has gone all sticky in this heat. Glue is supposed to be sticky, I hear you all cry in unison. Chanting, Life of Brian like. But being sticky it no longer stays stuck where it was placed. Going walkabouts.

Any thoughtful recommendations for glueing the fabric backed vinyl to hardboard and painted metal?

Glue used was Evilstink, correctly applied 4 years ago.

For this weather Sairset? ;)

Not tried it for your particular job, Guy, but have used successfuly for a number of jobs any number of weather proofing/ gutter sealing products. Sticks but dries flexible.
Just a thought

I seem to recall this problem came up maybe last year but can't recall the recommendations but IIRC there is a high temperature contact adhesive available. I did add that a mate was having problems with 3D printed instrument binnacle parts distorting in the heat and he had to reprint them in a material with a higher temperature tolerance, IIRC he found that temperatures inside the car were exceeding 80C in the sun.

We get plenty of heat here-the best glue (spraypacks) are-

3M Headliner glue ---or
Permatex heavy duty headlinner glue

My upholsterer mate swears by Weldwood for roof linings, but it comes in a tin and you have to brush it on or he uses some sort of spray/splatter gun---it's fairly thick muddy stuff but dries almost hard and is heatproof---if he's doing little fussy stuff he uses the Permatex spray tin because it does a good job, is heatproof and dries clear.

3M have got a good name here and there headliner glue is supposed to be excellent but I have no idea what colour etc it is

Thanks Willy.
To be fair, its not just the heat here that is the issue. It hasnt got much over 28 in the grim'up north', though that's plenty hot enough for me. No, the edges of the vinyl had begun lifting and curling back long before that. I think that the EvilStink just isnt what it once was and isn't right for the job. They changed the formula to discourage the young sniffers and in the process ruined a good product.I
I will see what 3M sell locally.

When I recovered the headliner panels on my boat (ply with thin cloth foam backed vinyl the supplier advised a good quality PVA.

It worked really well - glued the large flat surfaces of the ply and laid onto the fabric and weighted down. When cured stretched the edges and glued with a high temp contact adhesive - worked very well and no initial grab issues on these pretty large panels.

Would work with door cards etc.

Thanks Richard. PVA would-be good as it won't react with painted surfaces.

I found brush on Thixofix to be good. Holds much better than Evostick or other generic spray adhesives.
