MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Synthetic Engine Oil

Hi,
It has been discussed at length before, so sorry if I am going to annoy or anger anyone, but has anyone any experience of Millers Oils Classic High Performance 20W-50 NT Fully Synthetic Engine Oil.

When looking for a supplier of the Mobilube Nigel is using in his diff, I noticed the 20w 50 synthetic oils for classic cars and found it.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-77374-millers-oils-classic-high-performance-20w-50-nt-fully-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx

It has plenty of zddp and is designed for classics. More expensive than Halfords/Castrol 20w50 but if it provides better protection it may be worth it.

Anyone used it before?

Thanks

Dave

Dave,
I had some delivered yesterday I guess as a replacement for the now previous model (15w50) of their oil which I had ordered and now have in my car

previous oil being 15w50 is probably slightly better for winter use, would be nice to see a 10w50 though

I only put the previous model oil in last week so can't really comment on how good or not it is and the 20w50 NT wont go in until next August now

Opie Oil had an offer of free delivery on orders over £40, I don't know if that's still on but you can get Millers from local classic motor factors, garages or tuners - or buy over t'net

I ordered both of mine (for the 15w50) from the Halfords web site, at first they said they couldn't get it but when I placed a second order I got the 15w50 and third order (too complicated to explain why I ordered two lots) that arrived yesterday I got the new "Nano Drive" 20w50 NT - it looks like both boxes came direct from Millers by the packaging

there are also 10w50, 15w50 and 10w60 oil alternatives you could consider

Halfords link to "Web exclusive offer" £49.99 and free delivery - you may get it cheaper from a local supplier I don't know - http://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-fluids/engine-oil/millers-classic-high-performance-15w50-oil-5l

one sniff of all the ZDDPZZTop cured my acne and turned all my grey hairs black, the paint has returned to the car and the wheels are now cleaner marvellous stuff this ZDDPZZTop I don't know how I and my classics have lasted so long without lashings of the stuff :)

ETA: with the Halfords if you know how to you can get Nectar points, 'Cashback' (3.1%) and put it on your Tesco credit card for double points

What sort of prices are we talking?

Hi Dave,
The Millers synthetic is £50.00 for 5 litres.

The Valvoline is £27 with free p and p. Again not synthetic but full of ZDDP and probably many more consonants.

Here is a newer oil thats catching steam and giving lucas oil some sleepless nights

Its called royal purple and its loaded with zppd and comes in many weights and is fully synthetic...ive never used it, but I see its foot print more and more, and it has a positive zealot fan base

Antifreeze was cheap in France when I was there a couple of weeks ago. Also straight 80/90 back axle oil at the supermarkets.
