MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Thickness of flywheel with 7,5' clutch?
For reference use I would like to get thickness measurements of a 1275 flywheel fitted with a 7,5" clutch from peter may or any other manufacturer. Thanks Alex

What are you hoping to find out? Is this is standard flywheel or a steel one?

Alex - would it not be easier for you to contact him directly to get the exact measurement? I suspect that, Christmas notwithstanding, it's going to be quicker.

Daniel, As I said it's for reference use, but to be more precise I would want to compare clearance with the bellhousing on type 9 gearbox. Many of use have different specs. to our vehicles some have steel, aluminum, machined or regular flywheel with different clutch assembly's. So I thought by posting here that I might be lucky and get some different values. I for one was looking for a cheaper option than a steel flywheel with an expensive clutch, but would still want a solid long lasting set up. So the rout I took was to get my standard flywheel machined and drilled to accept a cheap but quality ford clutch with 190mm plate (got the idea from someone on here maybe a year ago or something), just got it back from the machine shop a couple of days ago. Maybe it was a long shot since I didn't even know if it would work.. and as described in your book on the part with bigger clutch I'm concerned about the clearance issues with the bellhousning. (a bit to late for that one might think, but I haven't tested the set up yet since the engine is on the engine stand) So what I would want the measurements for is to see if the ford clutch might be thicker than some other assembly's or if I maybe should have shaved some more meat of the flywheel. Rach, you're probably right, but it wouldn't feel right contacting them when I'm not really interested in purchasing the parts I'm enquiring about Anyhow I'll be off the BBS for a couple of days now so happy holidays!

When I fitted my 7.5 clutch and steel flywheel I placed blobs of blutack around key areas of the bell housing until satisfied I had relieved it enough to give adequate clearance. Trial and error I know but it worked out OK.

Well I trial fitted everything today, turns out I've got plenty of clearance. =)
