MG Midget and Sprite Technical - What are these?

I have had my sebring fastback kit for a few years doing bits on and off. I am moving towards sorting out the sebring front end and came across these in my box of bits.
For the life of me I can't remember if there part of the kit or not and if they are what are they for.
Come on all you sebringers help me out

Dave Pratt

I'm thinking that they are upside down. Are they the fitments that go in the top of the door sills and take the spring for the bonnet catch?

Alan is correct

Thankyou would either of you gentlemen have a sketch you could show me?
Dave Pratt

Dave
You are welcome to come over for a look and a cuppa.
At the base of the tube there should be a hole for a cross pin onto which the spring attaches. If you cant get over I'll take some pics and e-mail them to you.

Now that I'm on my PC, I can upload a pic.

This is where it fits on the sill...

Dave O'Neill2

Alan and Dave are correct.
But its worth considering the the potential problem of water passing through the housings and lying in the sill.
My solution was to plug the bottom and fit a drain pipe (brake pipe was ideal). To this tube attach a piece of suitable plastic tubing to exit on the lower face of the sill.Use stainless lower spring attachment fixings and the top surface of the plug should have a funnel profile.
For some reason I cannot upload a photo so I'll send you a email.
Derek Stewart

Thankyou guys for the pictures I now have a good idea about where they fit.
Derek I see what you mean about the water sitting in the sill and yours looks a good solution.
Thanks again
Dave Pratt
