MG Midget and Sprite Technical - What is this wire?

1967 positive earth Midget.
I cannot identify the longer wire (circled green) on the photo. White with brown tracer.
In the part of the loom running to the generator, but significantly longer.
Generator wires in red, what's left of the coil wire in white.
What is it?

Hi Richard,
Does this (Californian) car have an electrical temperature gauge? Maybe a rad or engine head mounted sensor?

White/brown is oil pressure switch. A ‘67 car will have a switch on the oil filter housing and a warning light at the top of the dashboard.

I had one of those warning lights on my F reg 1275 - oil filter blocked and by pass working - red light top centre on dash.
Never had it operate fortunately!

Guy, no electric temp gauge, dual gauge.
I believe Dave has it right, I'll trace it back to the dash lamp to be sure. Super helpful link also.

Yep, Dave's advice is good.
Incidentally someone once explained to me that single colour wires feed to a switch, relay or a fuse, whilst those with a second colour trace go from a switch ( or fuse) to a device such as a sensor, lamp etc. I may not have explained that well but it can sometimes help in identifying wires.
