MG Midget and Sprite Technical - whats that thingy called

I think it might be called a 'crash rail' - although I might be making that up... the vinyl covered padded strip that seperates the dashboard from the bulkhead?

Anyway - my question is, how does it come off?
C L Carter

very awkwardly. nuts right up behind dash above all the wires.took mine off and recovered when dash was out. a lot easier.
bob.

Dash pad is my name for it. As Bob says much easier with the dash lowered down.

Hi,

This was the only way I could get to all the bolts on mine. It took ages and needs to contortionist if you have one handy!

Good luck

Ah - well no point recovering that then. I was hoping it would just snap on/off
C L Carter

it is called the crach rail and it is a bugger to get off.
But it can be done if you just take the time
Onno K

Small flat ratchet spanner does it without too much difficulty.
But replacing it is even harder as it is impossible to see what you are doing and the little star washers and nuts all have to go on by feel.

Crash pad for me.. Cos if you crash your passenger might appreciate the extra "pad"ding on their head! Still doesn't make it any easier to get off or on...
"snap on/off" that's modern stuff ;0) "snap on" never to be taken "off" :0)
