MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Wiper wiring plug

Hi trying wire up my wipers , the connector block on the right is what I took off the car and it seems to have a terminal cut out of it for some reason the park never worked .I am trying to revert back to a single speed wiper set up that works . The one on the left is attached to an old loom I have from a 71 car that looks unmessed with . Can you get the terminals back out of the block so I can replicate the one on the left ?

You should be able to - with the right tool.

I take it that neither plug is attached to the car at the moment?

If you look carefully down the connector you will see a small tongue on the brass - use a very thin blade to depress the tongue while pulling gently on the wire and the brass part will slide out.

To refit just make sure the tongue is proud and push together.

If they aren't attached and you want to pop round, I'll remove it for you.

Mike, the spade connectors are held inside the plastic plug by a small metal tang on the side of the spade part. If you use something like a pin or very small flat jeweller's screwdriver and push it down beside the blade from the front (contact end) of the socket it will push the metal tang back and allow the connector to be pulled out of the plastic plug by the cable.

PS: Just as Chris describes! ;-)
