My 'very original' YA does not have twin carbs ...

Is this not a 'YB' if the vin is 4146 ?
Should a 1948 Y type have the offset battery box and the vin should be in the 1000ish mark?
also the rear wing looks narrow and the wheels look smaller I do think this is a later YB car, anyone agree!

The highest chassis number for YBs was YB 1552 (0251+1301). My guess is it is perhaps a 1950 and the VIN is incorrect, or they have taken the last 4 numbers of the engine number as the VIN.

The last offset battery box car was Y 4459 in January 1950.

Ask the seller - its a good question!

Steve,

the car is most certainly a YA and the chassis number given is correct (i.e. Y4146).

The centrally mounted battery box makes this car very interesting and I would suggest this is probably the first saloon to have the box in this position. The earlier belief that Y 4459 was the last car with an offset battery box seems to be incorrect given later research.
