MG MG Y Type - 3/4 inch clutch cross shaft YB

Any one know of a UK supplier of reasonably priced 3/4 inch clutch cross shafts?
Mine is worn and I am told needs replacing -NTG (too expensive anyway) and Brown & Gammons are out of stock. Anyone got a second hand but unworn one they dont mind parting with? Are they repairable?

Can you post a picture of it, so we can have a look if it is repairable?

The engineers tell me it's more expensive to repair than get a new one (usually about £30 from Brown & Gammons) - just that they are out of stock.

I am guessing that it is worn where it turns in the bronze bushes - exactly the problem I have with mine, right now - it's 5/8" diameter. I am making a new one from mild steel and the only machining required is a couple of keyways for the woodruff keys and a circlip groove one end. And a couple of holes for pins to stop the sideways movement of the carbon thrust yoke and the clutch operating lever. You'll need new bushes in the bell housing as well and these will need to be reamed to size after being pushed in to their housings - this will be an extra job regardless of where you buy the shaft. Mine is now with a general engineering shop to machine the keyways and ream the bushes. So far the new shaft has cost me $A3 for a short length of bright turning bar, and $A15 for bushes, and probably about $A50 for machining. Local cost of a new rod alone is $A130! I was advised against trying to repair it - that would have involved building up the worn area with weld (heat, distortion etc) then turning it back to original size.

I managed to get a new 3/4 in (YB) one from Brown & Gammons - they also have the 5/8 one in stock for the YA. Cost is about £40 or so.

Mine finished up costing me a total of $A58 = £Stg40 including machining and reaming of bushes for a new shaft, fitted to my bell housing. Which makes B & G's price seem very fair. But local supply means I don't have any of your very expensive postage cost! Best wishes!
