MG MG Y Type - Big End Appeal
| A strange request but I need a couple of big end or main shells from which I can recover the soft white metal. I need to white metal the main axle box horn guides on my small steam locomotive [image] since the Stephenson valve events have become a bit erratic. Local garages it seems no longer repair the bottom end of car engines so cannot help. Thanks Bryan e mail b.mellem@ntlworld.com

Hi Bryan I have an old set of shells and I am not that far from you just north of Carmarthen if you are interested Regards Brian

Thank you both, I did contact Paul by e mail and if it becomes too much of a problem for Paul to send the shells then perhaps I could accept your offer Brian. My thoughts are that it would have made a good winter run for the YA down to the National Botanical Gardens, at leasts its warm there. Thanks Bryan

How many do you need? I should have a used XPAG set for the cost of postage (EUR 9,- I think).

Paul is sending some shells, thanks all. Its one of those odd ironies that I had some old shells laying about in my garage for years but decided after rebuilding the YA last year to have a clear out. This is not the first time I have found a use for some old junk just after binning it. I get a feeling that someone up there is having a laugh. Bryan
