MG MG Y Type - Gerald Palmer Weekend @ Gaydon 28th/29th May

Dear All

I have been contacted by one of the organisers to ask if I could advise Y Type owners that GP100 Event,( to celebrate the 100th Birthday of Gerald Palmer, who designed the Jowett Javelin, MG Magnette and of course the MG Y Type amongst others ) will be held on Saturday 28th May and not the 21st as was previuosly published.

It will be held at the Gaydon Heritage Centre in Warwickshire UK and details can be found by visiting the MG Magnette Website.

The cost to enter a car and two passengers is £18 if booked before 13th May and £20 on the day.

Hope the Y flag will be raised - I will be attending as its just 10 miles up the road for me, I do hope some of you Ypers will be able to make it. Just a couple of weeks after the Spring Run. If you would like to attend the Spring Run on Sunday 15 May and meeting at the Charles Cotton Hotel in Hartington in the Peak District (meet from 10.00 with 11.00 departure) then please contact me even if you decide to leave until the day, though if the latter then do please let me know so that I can print off some extra rally books. My number is 07855566325 / e-mail: jerrybirkbeck@btinternet.com

Sincerely

Any Y owners attending with their cars tomorrow by any chance? Trust I am not the sole Y representative!
If anyone is there and wants to catch up my mobile number is 07855566325. I should be there from around 11.30 am

Hi Jerry

Were there any other Ys there?

Article on the GP100 report on the Y website made me chuckle. What would they have thought of mobiles ringing back in the day of Y Type and as described always one who needs to ask "What If?" lol

Dear All

I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were 5 Y's there - Neil Cairns in his YB, Reg Dixie and Derek Moore in their YB's, Little Gem from MGCC HQ though I couldn't find out who was driving it, and my YT (though of course although I was certainly the nearest Y owner - I still didn't make it until 1.30 and missed the lunch!.

It was a good event dominated by very strong winds, though in the afternoon the rain kept away.
There were a lot of Jowett Jupiters present - I hadnt appreciated how well designed they were - although the lines are not on a par with the MGA, which Palmer was involved with, though only a nice Twin Cam was present.

Overall a well organised day and the chance to see a range of Javelin, Jupiter, Magnette and sundry other vehicles and have a chat with their owners.

Good fun and well done to the Magnette Register.
