MG MG Y Type - Interior

I know this is a long shot, and I have been advertising in the "Parts Wanted" section for several months for a second hand interior for my YB, but would anyone know of a complete interior that I could purchase as the cost of a complete new set is just not cost effective, considering the value of a good road worthy YB Saloon.
Mick.

Try a local trimmer who isn't a specialist .. sometimes you can get stuff done far cheaper and often better. I had my interior done by a local guy and he made a first rate job of it. Sadly due to ill health health I can't pass on details. If your not obsessive about total originality you can get away with one hide or consider a synthetic leather.

Thanks for this. That's certainly an option to consider. I could buy the door panels and rear seat arm support panels from NTG and try and get a local guy to cover the seats.

If anybody could recommend a local trimmer, please let me know.

Many thanks,
Mick.

I had mine done by Paul Farmer of Southern Upholstery in Southampton. Paul is an ex-Connolly upholsterer and he did a lovely job. Dont know if he's still in business but he comes highly recommended.

Hi Paul

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me how long ago you had your work done by Paul and what sort of cost was involved?

Hi Mick

It was not cheap as the front seats alone require two hides to be used because of the hoop over the top of the seat backs. The rear seat then required a third hide ... however, the results were completely stunning and worth every penny!

As to time frame, that was ages ago and in the early 2000s (I moved here in 2004) so costs will be a miss-guide. Your best bet would be to give Paul Farmer a call and ask him for a guide on price. Hopefully he will remember doing my Y seats. He also restuffed them too and repaired and replaced some of the springs too - top job!

Paul Farmer's phone number is +44 (0)23 8077 6290. As you are in the UK drop the +44 and add in the 0.

Good luck and let me know how you get on.
