MG MG Y Type - Interior lamp switch

Hey all.
A question to all ya, yb owners.
When the interior light is off, which direction does the toggle in the switch point? Forward or backward?
I have searched in LTBY and googel but have not found the answer to this super important question ;-)

Hi Anders ,When I took mine out for the rebuild it was 'off' to the front. But of course it could have been changed in a previous life . Having said that the roof lining was original so I think it was as it left the factory .

Thanks John for the answer.
It probably went the right way,it feels right anyway.

Hi, Y3117 still has original hood lining and toggle is to the rear In the off position perhaps care wasn’t taken as per which way it faced pic shows in on position with toggle facing forward.

That is a similar discussion to which way fuel filler caps should point! The correct way is the way the cap points when the breather is at the top and filler tube at the bottom and the guy in the factory just sweated them on any which way just for the fun of it so we could keep discussing it for years!!!

I think the switch will be the same but that sort of debate just shows how keen we are on our cars!

Ha ha, yes we can discuss a lot about all the important things on our cars.
It would have been easier if the switch was mounted vertically like Morris Oxford, just to get the text On / Off correct.
But i was a little surprised by Rob's picture, were there Phillips screws on the Y? I thought all the screws were slotted.

Anders,

Not sure about Y or YT's, but my YB has numerous Pozidriv (NOT Phillips!) cross-head fasteners from original, as did TD's being produced concurrently.

Cross-head screws was invented in 1932 so theoretically it probably can be found on the Y.
