MG MG Y Type - Jackall Pump firewall bracket

As mentioned in other threads, my Jackall pump / distribution box was mounted incorrectly on the firewall. I am therefore after a photo or diagram (with a scale) for the firewall mounting bracket for a central battery box Y, so I can fabricate a new one.
TIA

Hi Stuart,
As a starter, here are two pics.
I have make a cutout template of the bracket in foam core by pressing it against the bracket.
I can draw a grid on it and photograph it for you,
OR post it to you.
I'll also measure the thickness.

Any help?

cheers KGM

PS The dust on the firewall is a statement about the rate of progress here.

Hi KGM, thank you for your interest in helping.
I think drawing a grid on the foam, photographing it and posting on this Bulletin Board is the best idea, as it will then be available for others in the future.

like nthis it should be
have been in garage and take measurment on my bracket
but was mounted so not absolutley correct perhaps
and has to be bent a little bit
will try it later if the measurment is correct

here one more picture how it is bent

FT Franz

Hi Franz, Stuart,
These things changed with the introduction of the central battery box apparently.
My YT has a centrally located box. The bracket I have shown in the images holds the pump.
The one Franz shows is similar to the pic in LTBY's of the reservoir bracket. (See page 51.)

As far as I know, the one I have is original, but of course you cannot ever be sure, but it does accord completely with the description given in LTBY's for cars with the central battery box. (See p 53, middle paragraph in the first column. )

Stuart, I did wonder if others might be interested. I'll see what I can do tomorrow . Fingers and coordination are terrible these days, can still type. I have a few work-arounds , some to the amusement of my wife. One such is in the pic. This is a 2mm screw held on a driver with heat shrink. I need to use this trick often. Hope you find it amusing too.

Hi Stuart,
here is a grid matching my bracket (YT ERX 3740) I have used an imperial grid because it seems the bracket was laid out to rounded inches. There is a spacer welded behind the outboard mounting hole to account for the thickness of the body support bracket's mounting flange. However this needs extra spacers(mudguard washers in my case) to make up for the thickness of the neoprene pad used between the mounting bracket and the fire wall.
For the pure in heart, "out" is stamped on the face of the bracket and there are two pop-marks near the outboard mounting hole. (See second photo)

regards KGM
PS (and Franz will understand this but I don't,) I drew this up in Freecad, but was unable to save the files.

K G Mills

You have done it in freecad
Cool
Open it in freecad and make a snapshot with sniping Tool
You have to open techdraw in freecad
i can give you a short lesson with Teamviewer on weekend if you like, you in the morning on one side of the world and me in the evening on the other Side 😎

KG, many thanks for the diagram. Not sure when I will get around to making it as I am heavily involved in SES here on the Gold Coast with the last 3 days of solid rain and now flooding.

For those out side Australia, SES (State Emergency Service) is a volunteer based government supported Civil Defence organisation which helps in emergencies.

Hi Stuart,
I fully understand about the SES, I had a radio on my living room floor for a few years, but fortunately no cyclones or whatever, only a few police searches, sporting event comms, and lots of exercises.

Re the Jackall bracket, in a few days I'll post a pdf to save the drafting. (With Franz's encouragement) And an omission, it is 1/8 inch thick.

Hi, Stuart,

here is a pdf.
Should print full size if I managed to get it right.
Units are inches.

Cheers KG.
K G Mills

Hi KG,
After 3 attempts (using different parameters) I finally got a correct print when I used the default settings. I have printed on card which I will cut out and check against firewall /scuttle bolt positions, etc.

I should be at the Y75 event, depending where it is held.

KG, again thank you for the dimensions and drawing.

I have had 5 brackets made from 4mm steel and laser cut. (see photo)
I am willing to sell 4 of them at AU$15 ea (actual cost of cut bracket) plus postage.

cheers
Stuart
