Congratulations, your YT looks great.

How does the car go with the supercharger? My YT's XPAG engine which is currently being rebuilt will have a roller lifter cam system. I am looking forward to comparing it when I get to take the YT for a drive.

A pitty you did not include all the photos and posts in the same thread, as I was undecided where to post my comments.

cheers

Congratulations Anton! Outstanding result.

Dear Stuart and E.J.
Thank you both for your replies. It took me nearly 36 yers to complete the task - lots of blood sweat and tears :o)

Stuart, The engine is not run in yet (600 Miles on the clock). To save on exorbitant Swiss ensurance cost, I have taken the car off the road during the coming five winter month.
In my good old MG TD racing days, I bust a XPAG by fitting a Shorrock onto a souped up engine. It was my mistake because the compression ratio was to high and the conrods where lightened. As a result one of the conrods poked a hole in the engine's side wall and the sump (in the eighties, there was no internet to consult and I had no Shorrock documentation).

Since I am "once burned", I am very careful about the ratio betwen primary and secondary pulleys of the blower and do not want a boost, higher than 3 PSI. Much more boost would not help much anyway, because of the imperfect rear axle ratio of the YT....

Kind regards
Anton

A most excellent car Anton. I found a reference to supercharging in W.E.Blower 1952 book on tuning MG cars. I confess to having no knowledge of the subject, however I understand the engine is basically untuned running on 75 octane fuel. The maximum power seems to be around 5000 rpm. The author explains that for a normally aspirated engine there is a 3% loss of power for every 1000 ft altitude so at 10,000 ft it is down 30%. Supercharging is really suited to your Country.
Have you considered a 5 speed gearbox conversion which in 5th gear reduces engine revs by 10%, the conversion is reversible so the original gearbox can be re installed. Bryan

Glad you ilk the car. I do have a copy of the Blower article nd luckily todays petrol(s) are much higher octaned. Which of corse needs a bit of playing with the ignition (advance).
I hav dcided against a 5-speed conversion and because of this will never travel on a motorway (Autobahn) with this car.....

cheers
