MG MG Y Type - MG Y at British Car Auctions

http://www.british-car-auctions.co.uk/Default.aspx?page=4686 MG YA for auction on 26 Feb 2008.

Ownership at this stage is unknown.

If you are looking for a Y this could be an opportunity as it sounds in reasonable condition and isnt unreasonably price estimated.

Hello Paul.telephoned BCA about this Y Type they said they dont have any Y up for auction.

Did you call Blackbushe in Hampshire, UK? Did you tell them the website URL? It is their website! Other than that, I dont have a clue!

I would be very surprised if that car is not mine now, Y5100. See Ys on Parade and note the similarity of RAC badge placement and lack of add-on indicators. Am still waiting for history from DVLA so cannot be dogmatic.
Murray

Think you are both right guys! Deja vu eh Murray?

Pity about that! Looked very interesting and a possible re-entry into Y Type motoring! Just need some storage space - but will keep looking.
I have some pics forwarded to me of a Y being sold by Barrie Carter - the purveyor of T's and Y's and based in Crewkerne.
It's not the one up for £9k but one that requires 'running restoration'.It' a 48 YA and is not known to the Y Register. Barrie's looking for around £3.5= 4.5k.
The upper figure will retain the MG registration.

If you need more info then please contact me by e-mail. jerrybirkbeck@btinternet.com

Crewkerne by the way is on the Dorset/Wiltshire/Somerset borders!

See all you UK based guys at the Y Spring weekend 10/11 May

Sincerely

Jerry

I saw on BCA's website they do valuations on a description base. So just out of curiosity I sent such a request, describing my car as something like overall condition 3. Now they have written back that Y's in such condition are worth £ 1000 - 2000. Are our dearies really worth that little ?

When you want to sell something, you get nothing for it, when you want to buy it, it will cost you dear. Bear in mind that an auction is the lowest denominator of the market too. Add to that, frankly, a total ignorance of research, plus a simple desire to turn cash, and the fact that if they told you you could get £6k - £7k or more and you did not you would be probably wanting to sue them. Bottom line, their valuation is as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
