Wow - Have a look at the underbody photo - not much left of the sills there !
A L SLATTERY

The chrome mouldings on bonnet and door appear the same as the mouldings on yt2859 in yt's on parade where these a dealer option???..
R J Snell

Yes they were added by dealer J Inskip here in the USA.

It's amazing how these YT's keep on coming up. Though that's a lot of money for a car that appears to need a great deal of TLC some serious body repairs, new sills etc, and by the looks of it many missing parts requiring replacement. And mechanically a bit of an unknown

However, the panels look pretty good, as far as can be seen from the pics, and little or no obvious rot in the bottom of the doors, boot and spare wheel lid etc.

In UK prices it's around £10k, but then its a left hooker, and shipping costs, import taxes would all need to added so that's another £2-2.5K.
No,I am NOT thinking of repatriating it!

Probably best left for our North American chums to restore.

Be very interesting to hear what happens to it!

Oh,as Paul mentions the chrome strips were fitted by Doug Inskip, a US importer of M.G.'s during the 50's and 60's (?). I have them fitted to my YT (4372) Initially I thought that they were a visual embellishment too far, but I have grown used to them and on a dark body they provide a pleasing contrast.

Have a good New Year

"but I have grown used to them "

Steady on now Jerry ... you will be getting white wall tyres for it next! (Jerry's car came to him with white walls ... and they didnt last long - LOL).

Just Doug fitted these in the late 40s/early 50s not only to Ys, but also to an interesting TD special he commissioned and had built - see http://www.mgcars.org.uk/imgytr/specialys/inskiptd.shtml
