MG MG Y Type - MGCC

I see from the website www.mgccyregister.com that the MG YA of Peter Vielvoye will be on the stand. Went on main MGCC page http://www.mgcc.co.uk/mg-news/mg-club-news/2091-ready-for-the-nec.html and saw Jason Plato's modern race car taking up most of page a lovely looking VA Tourer and the MG YA shown in distance.

Who wants to look at modern plastic machine, when could display a Y Type next VA much better on eye, and proper MG too, or perhaps it's winds of change! LOL

Had a great weekend at the show with loads of interest in the YA, long chats with three Y body off restorers whom I hadn't heard of before so was very encouraged. Jerry also had lots of interest in his YT on the Octagon stand.
As you will see from the picture the shot selection for the site was probably the best for an overall view

Peter,

The YA is looking good, nice paintwork. Take your point the other photo showed more cars but yes, I'm biased,I prefer the photo here sometimes less is more.

As Peter says it was a great weekend and we both had great fun and lots of interest in both Y's. P's car looked stunning and having Y's present certainly raised the profile. My only comment is that all the MG stands were together, which is fine - but a little out on a limb. Anyhow well done to all 3 Clubs who put in a huge amount of work and one is felt to be very welcome. As you may be aware Geoff Trevena (Octagon Secretary) retires at the end of December. He deserves a huge vote of thanks from all who use the Club for spares etc. He has done a brilliant job - well done Geoff. The Show is really good and do make a visit next year. Apparently according to Classic and Sports Car's website over 58, 500 punters present.

Hi Jerry, I enjoyed the show again this year.It was good seeing all the MG clubs together especially with the YT and YA taking pride and place, unfortunately you had sneaked off, probably for a coffee, when we were at the stand so we missed you. Peter, I believe did not go on the Saturday so we missed him as well.
Cheers Chris

Jerry,

Yes, had seen in the bulletin that Geoff Trevena was retiring. Will be loss to us owners who use the club for spares. Good to know the club have Geoff who is on the pulse, lets hope they find good replacement.

Octagon Car Club simply must for owners of Y Type with the support they offer.

Jerry, any update on your council proposal at the MGCC AGM, as per winds of change thread on other forum?

Richard

If you look on the MGCC Forum you will get a picture of the outcome. It was much as I expected and certainly there was no stomach for change.

Shame as it offered an opportinity to plan ahead and consider matters such as a 5 year plan, issues around succession and positive ways in encouraging new and younger members.

At least the opportunity arose to consider some of these matters, Which is a tiny step forward!
