MG MG Y Type - MGCC Y Register Spring Run

The Y Type Register Spring Weekend in 2013 will be on 11th & 12th May. The Dinner on the Saturday will be at The Dog House Hotel not far from Abingdon Airfield on the Saturday Evening with the Road Run assembling and starting from Abingdon Market Square on the Sunday morning and finishing at Greys Court near Henley on Thames.
More details and an application form can be found at http://mgccyregister.com
The square can take 50 cars so lets see if we can fill it.

Hotel full up too, look forward to show!

I wonder if the dinner venue is a coincidence, but in the 1950's when Marcus ChaMbers was BMC Competitions Manager at Abingdon, he Dog House was their local for lunch. My father used to rally BMC cars and the modification and tuning was done there.

I remember,as a teenager, being driven to lunch by Pat Moss in a big Healey, probably a 100-6. I don't think that I have ever had such a fast ride on public roads, but I can clearly remember having no trace of fear at the high speeds. She gave a feeling of safety despite the speed.

Richard,
The whole hotel has been reserved for the Y Register. When booking you need to mention "Y Type" to let them know you require a room as part of the reservation. It is a first come first served basis.

Peter I rang the Hotel last year requesting a room. I told them it was reserved for the Y type spring run. They looked in there diary and told me all the rooms had already been booked up and the hotel was full for that weekend. Luckily I managed to find a B&B in the village.

Thanks for confirming this.
Often is the case that booked before or soon after advertised, suppose you've got committee booked before hand, perk role I guess, for everyone else I guess pot luck.
I'm booked up for Sommertreff this year, be good to see UK based cars over in support, and chance to see some different Y's. Ripon, last year was good too, again some different Y's.

Sorry about that Chris some of the committee had the same problem we sorted it out when we went there for lunch after our recent meeting. They had a change of management in between and things got confused.
Glad you found somewhere.

Bryan,

I'll private email you details sent to me of details.
The hotel will still have room and reasonable price with discount.
In case it comes to your spam/junk mail box please do check there too.

Just a reminder that the closing date for the Dinner to be held on 11th May is 31st March. Howver, I am sure that Chris Callaghan, the organiser, will be delighted to accommodate any late runners for the Spring Run on Sunday 12th May. Since the start is from Abingdon Market Place, which is well supplied with surrounding coffee shops and cafes for that pre-run bite(!),we are limited to 50 cars. It would be appropriate to see 50 Y's in the centre of Abingdon. Probably the first time ever anywhere, for except of course the delivery sheds and production lines at the MG Car Company!

A great way to commence the Y Type Event programme for 2013 in the UK!

Full details can be found, together with an application form, on the Events page of the MGCC Y Register website: www.mgccyregister.com or the IMGYR Events page.
