MG MG Y Type - NEW-headlamp brackets –update

I am sorry to say that this project has not progressed as easily as I had hoped. I set out to make these brackets available at a reasonable cost and at a level of quality, which I felt appropriate to a “Made in England” hallmark.
After several false starts, the project is hopefully back on the rails and I am now expecting to receive a new “sample” at the end of this month. If I feel that I can then proceed, then I shall contact all you good guys and gals who originally expressed an interest, and ask if you still wish to be on the “order list”. There will also be an opportunity for anyone else to join in the order.
Once again my sincere apologies for the delay and thank you for your patience.

Hi Keith

My sympathies on the birth pangs. I know David Pelham and I both have had much more trouble with the development of the CDs than you, he or I would have imagined going into it.

I for one am still interested.

Hi,
It is with great regret that I have taken the decision NOT to continue with the re-manufacture of the Head Lamp Brackets.

As you will recall, I set out to have these made at a reasonable cost and to do so required a fair size batch to be made.

From time to time I have shared with you the difficulties I have encountered with various foundries, chromium platers and the costs and quality of their work. I was not prepared to accept "second best". We used to be the "greatest"!

I am sorry to say that I have now reached the end of my tether with them and have decided to “abort” the project.

No doubt you will share my disappointment in this, but hopefully you will be able to source the brackets elsewhere, albeit at a much higher price.

Finally, may I thank all those Y Type owners for supporting me in the first instance and I am only too sorry that it has not worked out this time around.
If by some miracle I happen upon a solution, I will resurrect the plan.

Respect Keith - it is a hard, long and lonely road to try to get manufacturer's on board with projects like this. All I can say is thank you very much for trying on behalf of all Y owners.

I am very grateful for the numerous emails I have received, thanking me for my efforts to try and supply these brackets . To those who have written I aplologise if I have not replied individualy, but it is most appreciated.
I have just been contacted with another possible lead, so perhaps the project is not yet dead. Watch this space.

Comment from a friend of mine who makes "hot-rods"- "i think the MG Y is one of the prettiest small saloon cars ever made".

Keith I hope your Y doesn't end up with a Chevrolet V8 complete and a Dodge big diff. Bryan
