Just had a quick look at this - what a wealth of information and advice at your finger tips. We are indeed lucky to have people willing to help and share knowledge to keep us on the road.

Peter, How can content of private email be published on your register website. I see one of my questions feature, and certainly I never asked for it to be published, yes, the content does clearly identify me, to those who know my drama of breakdown on Y trip.
I challenge your practice to use material in this way without consent, as I don't see it mentioned, that if owner asks for opinion /advice for it to then by default be reused on www.mgccyregister.co.uk

What are you attempting to say Richard - that your privacy has been invaded?

Neil's note makes no mention of you by name though you identified the details. But what does it matter, there are plenty of items that are raised in the BB where folk raise queries and others suggest ways that the problem may be resolved. Thats in the public domain.

Quite why you have got so hot under the collar when a quite significant issue has been raised over Y Type overheating is being discussed. You set out what you had done and the advice that you sought and Neil provided you with feedback. This must be of value to all Y owners and possibly save them a good deal of time and effort resolving the matter.

I would have thought that you would like to share your experiences with others.

All the best

You begin by saying “What are you attempting to say Richard - that your privacy has been invaded?” – Yes, if I ask the question by direct email and get a reply by email that does not give anyone the right to then later make that correspondence a matter of public domain information unless both parties agree to it.

You go on to say “But what does it matter, there are plenty of items that are raised in the BB where folk raise queries and others suggest ways that the problem may be resolved. Thats in the public domain.” Correct – but here is the difference, those questions have first been raised in the public domain and they are open record. Private correspondence is just that – Private … not public.

Indeed in the email I did explain what I had done and received a reply back from Neil. By comparison are you saying that a doctor or lawyer has the right to make patient or client notes public so long as they do not name the client when the client can be identified from the notes? I do not think so and I should at least have been consulted and ASKED prior to them being published. I do indeed feel violated by the publishing of these matters and ask that the MGCCY not only remove them from their site, but also apologise here for publishing them without my consent.

I am surprised that you are so exercised by this Richard. We are talking about a hobby and not the release of personal details for goodness sake. I'm sure that most reasonable folk would have no worries about sharing a problem with others and getting some advice that others may benefit from.

As your name is not mentioned then why do you worry. Life is too short to worry about percieved legal niceties! If someone is able to save themselves hours of time and money and benefit from others general willingness to share the results of an inquiry (which to reiterate no detail information on the sender is provided which I think you can agree upon) then this must be of benefit to all Y owners. Surely that must be a welcome and understanding approach to take?

On a personal level I would have no problem with that. Though perhaps I am a little more sanguine than some!

Have fun with the YT and YB
All the best
