MG MG Y Type - Newbie
| Hello, I’m about to buy my first Y type and ideally would like to experience one in Gloucestershire before travelling to see the target vehicle. Is there anyone owning similar vehicle in this county please get in touch with me |

| Hi AJ - Welcome I'm on the other side of the world but maybe might be worth contacting your local MG club-- I'm sure there'd be someone there more than willing to take you for a spin. https://glosmgoc.co.uk/ https://www.facebook.com/glosmgownersclub/ |

Thank you (especially Peter) for your help. Yesterday I bought my first Y type and it’s really nice, possibly one of the best in England!

| Hello,
It looks good. I bought one five years ago. I bought the car because it had a good engine, perhaps one for my TA. But when the car arrived in Germany from England, we had coronavirus and I had some time to work on the car. Many parts were rusted and the leather was in poor condition. Here you will find a blog with lots and lots of pictures of this car. I completely dismantled the car, documented every step with photos and then rebuilt everything myself, also taking countless photos. This way you can see where these cars have problems. I think the biggest problem is the sunroof. If the drains and pipes at the bottom are defective, it starts to rust without you being able to see it immediately. If you have the time and inclination, there is a lot to read, not only about the YA, but also about the TA and the MGA that I have started to restore. Unfortunately, I am currently renovating my son's house, so the MGA will have to wait a little longer. https://www.mgexp.com/forum/t-series-and-prewar-forum.46/mg-ya-no-1675-from-1948.4022768/ |
