MG MG Y Type - Original Y Handbook sensible offers

Hi 'Y' Types.

I have just found amoungst a pile of paperwork from my Nan's house a Virtually Mint Owners Handbook for
the 'MG One and a Quarter Litre (series "Y")'
The Cover is Red Parchment Paper 10 1/4" X 7 1/4"
Within the back cover is a wallet section containing the following four booklets:-
Distributors, Dealers & Retail Dealers.
Lubrication & Maintenance Schedule. recommended by Duckhams.
The First 500 Miles on your New MG 1 1/4 Litre.
Tyres for your MG Safety Fast.
All the above do not have any finger marks and appear to be unused and as they left Abingdon in 1948.
They will be ideal for a Concours Display.

You are invited to make sensible offers off line,
by Saturday 4th April otherwise it will have to be
e-bay.

I would prefer these items to go to an enthusiastic 'Y' owner not a dealer.

Did your grand parents own the YA - any idea of the details or a photo for the records.
David Mullen

Hi David,
Not to my knowledge, but a good point, I have
found hundreds of photographs and some have cars, but I have not had time to study them in great detail yet.
Soon as I have time I will have a look for you.

Often times folk would write the chassis number in the book. Does yours have any indication in the book Tim? If it does, Jack Murray may be able to see if we have a current owner who might like to be reunited with the book.

Hi Paul
No identification at all in the book or lubrication & maintenance schedule.
So cannot help jack here.
When I have time to search through the photos they my
reveal that it was my Grandfathers car hopefully my be able to identify the reg. no.
