MG MG Y Type - Pin striping

Can anybody tell me if the MG Y sported a pin stripe the length of the car? I have just purchased an excellent pinstriping machine which is so easy to use. It applies an accurate stripe of enamel paint in a choice of 7 different thicknesses. I have used it ecxtensively on my bikes.Have a look on ebay, search for Beugler.

Originally I don't think they didn't have a pin-stripe but it would look good under the swage-line (sp?).

Prototype Y's had two pinstripes of different width on the wheel centre around the hub cap.
Willem van der Veer

Willem is correct - originally no pin-stripe. Indeed two-tone colour schemes were limited strictly to wings (fenders), valance panel running boards one colour and bonnet (hood), boot (hood), & tub another. That was the colour divide as the parts were painted seperately and then simply assembled.

My YB has a pinstripe but it appears to have been done by the first owner after purchase.

It's difficult to see in these photos, but there is a gold line just above the green areas...

Beautiful car! Wish my YB looked that good.

It's all lighting. The paint is original (at least the blak part is). Here, look at this angle, especially at the rear corner where the sun is hitting, and marvel at the wonders of choosing your lighting carefully...

I was looking in Dave Lawrence's Let there be Ys for something else and came across two photos of Prototypes no.1 and 2. Prototype no.1 (all black) had two silver coachlines on it, and no.2 (shires green / Elizabeth grey) had two shires green stripes on the body and some detailing on the wheels too. David commented that these did not make it into the production models through.

Hope this helps!
